A Memo to the Stewardship Committee. Who’s Responsible?
Dear Story Stewardship Committee,
I have entrusted you with many resources in this church—buildings, budgets, and people who serve with their hearts and hands. You have faithfully stewarded these, managing finances, maintaining spaces, and making plans for the future. But there’s something else I’ve placed within your community, something that may have been overlooked.
I have written stories—each one unique, each a reflection of My work in the lives of My people (Psalm 78:4). These stories are treasures, yet many remain untold. They lie dormant, waiting to be discovered and shared. I invite you to consider these stories as part of the stewardship you hold. They, too, are My gift to your church, given to inspire, heal, connect, and reveal My faithfulness to generations (Deuteronomy 6:6–7).
Imagine if you, as a stewardship committee, saw these stories as carefully as you see the budget or the building. Imagine capturing and preserving these testimonies of faith, transformation, and challenge as part of your legacy. I have designed these stories not just to be shared once, but to become woven into the fabric of your community—reminders of My presence, My provision, and My purpose (Psalm 145:4).
You may wonder why story stewardship hasn’t felt like part of your calling until now. Perhaps it’s because it was never considered, or because sharing these stories requires vulnerability, even for those on the committee. I understand that discomfort, but I also know the power that lies in each testimony (Revelation 12:11). When shared with care and authenticity, stories can become a foundation of faith for others to stand on.
So here are two questions I ask you to consider:
Do you, as leaders in this church, recognize the ability you have to respond to this call of story stewardship?
And perhaps the most important question: Are you willing?
This is more than just a task—it is a response to the unique and precious stories I have placed among you. Take up this responsibility with care, with courage, and with the awareness that you are stewarding not only what you have, but who I have made My people to be. As you capture and share these stories, you’ll see My work multiply, bringing faith to life in ways you can’t yet imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
Love,
God
